I want to replace control to save doc in db. For example replace TComboBox control in text {ComboBox}. If i don't replace controls in text, I can't save document in stream, method SaveRVFToStream exception: "Class TComboBox not found". I can use SaveHTML() and event SaveComponentToFile to replace Controls. But I don't want to use this intermediate file. How I can walk in the loop on all objects and replace all the controls in some text markers?

Hi! I have some inserted controls (method InsertControl()) in TRichViewEdit. How I can replace this controls before saving in database blob with using method SaveRVFToStream(). Event SaveRVFToStream is not running when I call SaveRVFToStream(). Is there an analogue event SaveRVFToStream of for SaveRVFToStream() ? How I can solving the problem of replacement controls?

I am afraid no.
TRichViewEdit does not support pictures below the text. It supports table and cell background pictures, but they cannot be saved in RTF (RTF does not support them).

I still cannot reproduce this problem.

Try the following change:

In RVThread.pas: delete the line

Only background color of paragraphs and table cells can be saved.

I have update ScaleRichView to v3.5, RichViewEdit - to 12.5.2 and RV Actions to 2.2.2 and the error still appear.

What version of ScaleRichView do you use?

(in some old versions, errors with a ruler were possible after linking it to another editor/unlinking, because references were not updated properly)

Hi!

I try to implement some application using SRichViewEdit but FastMM4 has detected memory using troubles.

In general application represents form with TPageControls and two buttons - "Add" and "Delete". When user push "Add" button the new page with TMyFrame is added to TPageControl. "Delete" button delete active page (with destroying TMyFrame).

TMyFrame - is frame I make for error demonstration purposes. I just open a form Demos\ActionTest\Unit3.pas (from srv_demos.zip), select and copy all components from this form, and then paste its in TMyFrame. Besides, I add dmActionsSRV.pas (from same demo project) to my project.

So, user can add and delete pages with cool text editors.

But FastMM4 (in FullDebugMode) detects memory error! To reproduce this error is needed to push "add" twice, then "delete" then "add" again.

I created document with table with 200 rows.
First page - all ok.
But on the second page a cursor is increased with every line.

The only application that can display RTF like MS Word is MS Word.
TRichView supports a subset (quite large subset, but not the full set) of RTF features.
However, as I understand, you do not need too advanced features, so you can try using our components.

There are two ways for converting RTF to another format.

1) Load RTF in TRichView. Create a procedure for saving TRichView to another format. All TRichView contents can be accessed using methods a properties, and it is completely documented.
2) You can try using TRichView RTF parser, see http://www.trichview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2702. While reading RTF, the parser generates events like OnNewText. The read text is in parameters, its attributes is in the parser properties.
For example:
- font size is in parser.RTFState.CharProps.FontSize,
- font style (bold, italic, etc.) is in parser.RTFState.CharProps.Style,
- font name is in parser.FontTable[parser.RTFState.CharProps.FontIndex].Name;
- paragraph alignment is in parser.RTFState.ParaProps.Alignment.
Unfortunately, RTF parser is mostly used internally, and it is undocumented.

Hi,

I have an application that uses a TRichEdit to load an rtf (or paste text from Word etc) and convert this to a format another of our applications uses to set letter texts.

The program basically scans each character of the rtf and needs to know for each character what the character is, the font name, size and style, the indentation of the paragraph, and whether there is a bullet style and that's about it.

The problem I have is that a lot of the time the RichEdit component is not displaying the rtf as Word would and therefore my application cannot re-create the document correctly in the other application's format.

I have downloaded the trial version of TRichView and this can display the rtf correctly so providing I can work out how to do the parsing I have authorisation to purchase the product.

For future versions it would be nice if I could handle Unicode and tables but at the moment I am just dealing with fairly straightforward letter texts with multiple fonts, bullets and indentations.
My question therefore is how would I acheive this with TRichView please.

I believe you need to decrease metafile size at least by 10.
I am not sure which maximal size of picwgoal and pichgoal is understood by MS Word.

it is no problem, the metafiles are generated by my program, i can easy change them. i insert metafiles, because of little size an much petter printing quality (this are generated drawings) The problem is, there can be small numbers from the dimensions.

please explain, how is the maximal pixel size in each direction, that you can handle?

I am afraid the only way to fix it is to modify your metafile. Its size is too huge.

Explanation.

When you load it in TMetafile, it has size 9999x5324 pixels. TRichView always uses this size (Graphic.Width and Graphic.Height properties) as 100% size of a picture. In the document, this picture is scaled to 600x319 pixels (i.e. 6% of its original size).

MS Word calculates picture size differently: it takes picture resolution to the account. I.e., by default, it uses not 9999x5324 as the original picture size, but (9999*picture resolution ratio)x(5324*picture resolution ratio). To prevent different calculations, TRichView uses special keywords to define the original picture size: picwgoal and pichgoal. They contain values in twips: \picwgoal149985\pichgoal79860 for your picture.
So TRichView define the original picture size and specify that the picture is scaled to 6%.

Normally, it works. But not for your metafile. It is because the numbers are too large and simply ignored by MS Word.

So the only solution is to make this metafile smaller.
