You can also use any demo from Demos\Delphi\Assorted\Fields\ as a base.

The main idea of text limitation is calling Undo if text exceeds max length.

But probably inserting TEdit in TRichView is better, because it provides

normal moving focus with Tab and Shift+Tab.
